24.06.2026 – Inauguration of New Basketball Court The Rotary Club of Mettupalayam inaugurated a new Basketball Court at Government Higher Secondary School, Mettupalayam, on 24 June 2026 to promote sports and student development. The court was inaugurated by Chief Guest Rtn. AKS. AS. Sivabalan, District Governor Designate 2028–29, RID 3203, and the commemorative plaque was unveiled by Guest of Honour Shri R. Murali Babu, Managing Trustee of the N. Krishnaswamy & Premaleela Trust. President Rtn. R. Santhamoorthy welcomed the gathering and reaffirmed Rotary's commitment to youth empowerment. The Headmistress expressed gratitude to Rotary and the donors for providing the school with a modern sports facility. Rtn. PP. AKS. Er. S. Gnanasekaran donated ₹25,000 for sports equipment and offered to improve the school's football ground. The programme concluded with an exhibition basketball match between SVGV School, Karamadai, and GHSS, Annur. The project was made possible through the generous support of the N. Krishnaswamy & Premaleela Trust, Rotarians, donors, and well-wishers, reflecting Rotary's enduring commitment to education, sports, and community service.
